Society Trophy 2026
 
The society played for the Society Trophy @ Hurtmore GC
Once again, Credit must go to Hurtmore GC greenkeepers, As the course was in great condition especially with the recent weather conditions.
This was shown in the results, with only a handful of players scoring less than 30pts, 
 
It was great to see a fantastic attendance for the event, with 33 members and 1 guest ( It was also great to welcome back Alan Husher to the society) 
Winning the day with 42pts was Steve Walsh, He was followed by Grahame Roberts who scored 41pts,
They were both followed by Michael Payne & Gary Major who both Scored 39pts, with Michael claiming 3rd place on the back 9

Asendia Trophy 2026

 

The society played for the Asendia Trophy @ Hampshire GC

As per previous events, the heavy rain remained constant leading up to the day, however the course stayed open and buggies permitted, however those who played would have understood if it had or maybe even should have been shut, with some very wet/boggy areras on the tee boxes/fairways and around the greens. On the day it stayed mainly dry but did have a couple of heavy downpours with the last couple of groups getting the worst of them. 

 

The event only consisted of a small field of 16 players. 

Winning the day was Paul Mallinson with 35pts, He was followed by our Captain Mr Colin Parker who scored 34pts to beat Carl Venning on the back 9 who also scored 34pts, Carl himself beat Mark McCarthy also on 34pts on the B9 to claim 3rd place.

Blackburn Bailey 2026

The society played for the Blackburn Bailey @ Hurtmore GC
Once again despite the constant rain over the last few weeks, the course was open and buggies permitted,

The only sign on the course to show that it had been raining , was a few puddles within a few bunkers,  apart from this the course was reasonably dry.  The fairways and greens were in very good condition with considering current weather conditions.

Winning the day and defending his trophy was Gary Major with 40pts, He would have been followed by Ian Roberts with 39pts. but he was ineligible for the day under society rules so could only finish 3rd. Therefore, under these rules Ian Brades was promoted to runner up with 38pts, 4th spot went to Colin Parker with 36pts

Founders Cup 2026

For the second game of the season, the society played for the Founders Cup @ Datchet Golf CG
Despite the constant rain over the last few weeks, Course was still open and buggies permitted, however with the recent heavy rain, obviously work on the course was restricted and the greens were quite slow with the green keepers unable to cut them due to the recent inclement weather conditions. Luckily, the day itself stayed dry thus giving the society a pleasant day for golf.
Grahame Roberts took advantage of this by winning the day with 35pts, claiming the runner up spot was Ian Brades, with 32pts who beat Carl Venning on the back 6 who also scored 32pts,  Colin Parker & Steve Walsh also scored 32pts but were both beaten on countback.

Jim Wild Cup 2026

On the opening game of the season, the society welcomed in our new captain Mr Colin Parker & Vice Captain Mr Terry Staniford for the 2026 season, and played for the Jim Wild Cup 2026
Unfortunately, the event only had a small attendance with only 16 members and 1 guest, however based on how cold the weather was, I’m sure those who didn’t play enjoyed the warmth indoors. 
The day was won by Carl Venning with 35pts, followed by Terry Staniford with 34pts & followed by Cyril Horne with 33pts
